There’s been a florist in the same location, here on Keilor Road, for many decades but Niddrie Flowers was established by David Palmieri in 1992.

Fresh out of university with an accounting degree, David took over the existing florist and learnt on the job, the trade he’s now been doing for the last 30 years. He’s been hands on ever since and never looked back. David himself is well known in the flower industry and within the Melbourne Market scene. He’s been involved in so many things within the industry and now currently sits on the Australian board for Interflora.

As a shop we are well known in the community and regularly provide flowers for local schools, churches and businesses. We have so many local, regular customers and getting to know them and chat to them is a joy. For some local families we’ve been around for all the milestones - birthdays, marriages, births, anniversaries and even in their losses as well.

We’ve also had the pleasure of working on some great projects. One that we are most proud of and look forward to each year is that we have been the official supplier of the lapel flowers at Flemington Racecourse for the Melbourne Cup carnival for over 10 years.

We’re a “family” style business. If you’re ever around on a Saturday you’ve most likely seen or been served by one of David’s parents, or you’ve seen some of our team member’s children running around out the back. On big days when the whole team is in you’ve probably walked in and smelt some wonderful flowers but also the aroma of pizza cooking out the back, it’s just how we like to do things. Many of our team have worked here for over a decade, and whilst our team has changed over the years, everyone pops back in from time to time. The work environment here sets a precedent for our work ethic and the outcome of that is that we all love to come to work and are passionate and creative in what we do.
